Habits of Godly People

My sermon will discuss the habits, acts, and behavior of godly people. I personally believe the most difficult requirement is to “Treat others better or equal to yourself.” Even the most devoted Christians have fought and argued with me on this point until I show them the Bible says it three times. (Three times is a significant number in the Bible, especially when commanding us about something because it reiterates the importance to God and is the number of witnesses needed to FULLY verify biblical truth -- or secular truth when we all lived and died by truth). Even so, knowing God’s requirement of us, people still fight the selfish urge to turn their back on others and look out only for themselves and their families.

Philippians 2:3 – “Do nothing out of selfishness or out of vainglory; rather, humbly regard others as more important than yourselves.”

James 2:8 - “If, however, you are fulfilling the royal (God’s) law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well.”

Galatians 5:13-14 – “For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

The world today has jumbled and shredded truths to CONFUSE people. There are TRUTHS in this world. We are born either male or female (unless an abnormal oddity of nature occurs and someone is born with both sexual organs, but even then the doctors choose one dominant over the other.) The secular world has tried to convolute truth, especially of “thou shall not kill – in the womb or out of the womb.” Some are trying to force numerous genders or ideologies that accept their truth as THE TRUTH. It is NOT truth, but a way to divide and weaken us. To de-moralize populations around the world so that bad behavior is accepted as good and good behavior is considered bad. God warned us of this = many times:

Isaiah 5:20 – “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”

2 Timothy 3:1-7 – “This knows also, that in the last days, perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, high minded, (egotistical) lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with diverse lusts. Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Romans 1:18-32 – “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath showed it unto them. For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified Him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools And changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man, and to birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise, also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same but have pleasure in them that do them.”

Indeed, God has warned us what was to come and now, what HAS come. I will tell you what you must do to combat such evil and keep God’s well alive and well in your heart, your actions, and on earth. We must have strength, character, endurance, and perseverance to stay on the high road to heaven while others tumble to hell. We must serve and catch those who are walking treacherously on the edge and pull them to safety.  “Of whom much is given, much is required.” (Luke 12:48) And WE, my brothers and sisters have been given all the tools, knowledge, and weapons for a time such as this! God has our back as we try to help others escape dangerous paths.

We all must focus on prayer, service to others, discernment (HEARING from the Holy Spirit within), and consistency in behavior (kindness, humility, love, generosity, forgiveness, giving, perseverance, and acting with purpose) instead of reacting in frustration and fear. We must always trust in God, respect Him, and show gratitude even in the fire. YOU have been made for such a time as this. It is not a mistake you are here to serve, embrace UNITY, show love and forgiveness to your enemies (so that they may also see The Light), and reject the darkness of the world.

We all must provide for others and trust God to provide for us. Provision in body, mind, and Spirit. We must be Christ’s church: His hands and feet on earth. We must always look for ways to serve and be God’s example to even the cruelest of people. We are definitely at a time where the enemy is devouring his prey (many of these are our family, friends, children, and grandchildren) and we must be the stumbling stone the enemy encounters.

We must move forward in courage, faith, and strength, trusting God to edify and protect us as He promises in the Bible. You see my brothers and sisters; we MUST be all that I have listed above. All the requirements, acts, behaviors, and traits are GIVEN to us by our Lord so that we may properly represent God and be the example of Him needed to turn the lives of others toward The Light. WE ARE HIS LIGHT ON EARTH! Amen.
