Drought and Depression; Past and Present

There are times in my life when God REALLY convicts me about events. Last night was one of those times and I quickly outlined this sermon from 11:00 PM to 12 AM. What I heard, felt and suddenly understood brought me to tears. Tears for you; tears for me and all the people of our world. Reality is sometimes difficult to understand and accept. However, we must remember that God allows for intercession and it is time we ALL intercede for our progeny and our friends. PRAY for God’s insight, mercy, and grace, and then teach others all about Him!

This conviction came to me as I was finishing the third book in a 4-book series. The third book mentioned The Great Depression of 1929 and how the farmers out on the plains read about it but didn’t see how it pertained to them. Their daily lives seemed to be the same as usual and initially, they were unaffected by the stock market crash since their assets were tied up in livestock, feed, seeds, farming equipment, and land. However, little did they know that this financial drought would soon be accompanied by a water drought that destroyed the overfarmed (with wheat) prairie lands that had been turned from plush grazing lands to massive wheat-producing farms.

In 1930, without water, the overfarmed land, (never rested from planting as is needed for replenishment) turned to dust. Historically, this is called the Dust Bowl. With no rain and over farming, sand replaced once fertile soil and 400,000 farmers in 19 critical USA heartland states were suddenly displaced and became homeless migrants. A rude awakening as they were suddenly living their own tragic version of the once-ignored 1929 Great Depression. As the farmer's world collapsed around them, they fled to the West any way they could, leaving the destroyed farms, towns, and farming equipment behind. They lost everything!

My point is when they read about the 1929 financial collapse they thought it had no effect on their lives until the drought began the very next year. Soon, they were brought to ruin by nature, lack of financial resources, and poor soil conservation. Out of ignorance, they created their own destruction by not understanding you can’t take and take without replenishing, restoring, and giving back to the land that fed them.

The above is the picture God painted for me last night about modern Christians. We (including me) have enjoyed taking all the blessings of God without much concern about conservation and replenishing/growing what He has given us. We deeply slumbered as the thief has been allowed (and even welcomed and fed at some churches) to roam and freely steal, destroy, and kill our children, grandchildren, etc. (John 10:10 summarized)

Luke 22:31 – “ Simon, Simon, behold, Satan demanded to have you, that he might sift you like wheat.” (Shake you until he molds you into a different form of what you once were…easily eaten, digested and disposed of…)

1 Peter 5:8 – “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.”

We have been lulled into complacency by comfortable lifestyles and the idea that since we are sheltered, fed, and socialized, all is well with our Spirit, heart, and world. We are wrong! Even the most devout of us has allowed Satan access to someone we know, and for most of us, he has herded our future generations into an unsafe pasture full of lies about gender, murder of babies and even knowing the difference between right from wrong. There is a RIGHT and there is a WRONG, but in order to fit in and be politically correct, we have stood back and allowed social media and the corrupt media to influence us and those we love into believing The Truth (God) is a lie and secular lies are truths!

God is not happy and judgment is swiftly coming our way. We have been warned for years, but since our lives are relatively comfortable, we have not listened. Heed what I say. THE STORM IS UPON US…NOW!

We have erred by allowing Satan to come in and take control of our government, our children, and many others throughout the entire world...including our individual worlds.

The question is are we brave enough to proclaim righteousness and godliness to everyone we know and meet? Or, will we continue to lie in complacent slumber, praying that the coming destruction passes us by? Will you fight for God, and the salvation of your family & friends or sit quietly in the corner believing that you will hear what Paul worked tirelessly to hear: “Well done GOOD and FAITHFUL servant.” (Matthew 25:23) Do you truly believe God is pleased at how we have rested and enjoyed our lives while the world is being swallowed up by the devil? He is not…

We are coming to a time of testing. A time of upheaval and persecution, the likes of which, we (our generation and beyond) have never known. Are we strong enough in faith to withstand the winds of the storm or will we run and seek secular prosperity elsewhere like the farmers did during the Dust Bowl? Will we be cowardly and fearful, ending our own lives like many did during the Great Depression? Are our treasures here on earth or have we stored heavenly treasures as Matthew 6:19-21 requires? “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (NOTE: where your treasure is, that is also where God can find your heart)

Will the coming drought cause YOU depression? Or are you truly strong enough in your faith and biblical knowledge not only to save yourself but to evangelize The Word to those who are not yet enlightened? Are you a servant of God all the time or only in the good times? Again I repeat, soon we will ALL BE TESTED. We cannot expect God’s protection and compliments if we are lukewarm Christians.

Did God not warn us in Revelation 3:15-17? “I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind, and naked.”

Friends, do not fool yourself, and do not be blindsided. Covid 19 was just a precursor and warning. Far too many acted out of fear and greed, forgetting their Christian beliefs, The Word, and discernment. Many followed Satan to a painful death. Others trampled neighbors underfoot for toilet paper and food. I have been warning you that AI, accepting secular beliefs, and following idolized people are extremely dangerous, but have you heeded such warnings? I pray that you have and that this message is not for you.

God’s message to me last night was clear and intense. Many of you are still not ready to listen and change your thinking and actions, but your time is running short. My time is running short. We are coming to a time of financial troubles like our generation hasn’t experienced before. Will you respond with faith and generosity to your fellow man or will you join the depressed people in their quest for escape in drugs, alcohol, sex, gambling, etc.? I beseech you to pay attention to everything you can now see around you! Please open your eyes and ears, and take this sermon to heart. We are about to experience more chastisement from God for He disciplines His children out of love so that we return to the fold and His righteous path.

God Disciplines His Children (From The Book of Hebrews)

“In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood. [being a martyr] And have you completely forgotten this word of encouragement that addresses you as a father addresses his son? It says, ‘My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when He rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines the one(s) He loves, and He chastens everyone He accepts as His son/daughter.’

Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as His children. For what children are not disciplined by their fathers? If you are not disciplined—and everyone undergoes discipline—then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all. Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of spirits and live? They disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in His holiness. No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees.” (Hebrews 12:4-12)

I urge you to get right with God now. The above scripture verses tell us all we need to know about God, and His discipline and the last sentence tells us of our condition: Strengthen your FEEBLE arms (shaky, ineffective, and half-hearted are only three of many synonyms for feeble) and weak knees.

I know this is a bit intense, but the message, urgency undying concern, and love are how God presented it to me. The time is here and the time is now to get right with God and turn your back on worldly ways. Fight for what is right. Do what is right! Defend your children and grandchildren against the onslaught of WRONG teachings. Keep us together as the body of Christ and never, ever let anyone separate us! We are one. Amen.
