Healing God’s Way

Many of my family and friends are suffering from many illnesses/ailments and are feeling hopeless as they face one failed treatment after another. Many people forget God has a plan for your health and prosperity (Jeremiah 29:11-12) and it is NOT His plan that you suffer through each day, hurting and feeling drained.

We have some cherished friends visiting us right now and were just discussing the merits of natural versus traditional healing approaches, medicines, and modalities. A few minutes ago they headed out to attend a church service and I stayed home to write my sermon. As we spoke about health I thought “What better sermon to write than one that helps people refocus on God and connect with His higher healing power?” There is an option for healing that doesn’t include big pharma! God provided natural herbs and substances along with His promise to keep us healthy IF we follow all he taught us.

We all have promises from God that create hope and healing as long as we know His Word, call upon Him, and have faith that He is able and willing to heal us. Long ago I wrote a book called “40 Days Fast from Wrong Thinking.” It is a copywritten guide to connecting with God and knowing how to capitalize on all His promises and desires for His children. Since I wrote a section called “Health and Healing” in my book, I decided to copy that page, add some additional context and commentary, and let you read God’s plan for you. The following will give you a path to healing and an improved quality of life.

  1. Psalm 30:2 -- O LORD my God, I called to you for help and you healed me. (ASK!)
  2. Psalm 103:2-3 -- Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits--who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion. (Praise God for your healing even before you see it. Speak His healing scriptures and promises as if it has already happened)
  3. Psalm 107:20 -- He sent forth His word and healed them; He rescued them from the grave. (Even when doctors tell you there is no hope; there IS HOPE in GOD! Jesus is the Great Physician)
  4. Psalm 118:17 -- I will not die but live, and will proclaim what the LORD has done.(He promises eternal life after the body is worn out)
  5. Psalm 147:3 -- He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. (God is very concerned about our emotions. Lean on Him when you are hurting and let Him heal you completely…emotionally, spiritually, and physically. Remember, your emotional well-being is DIRECTLY related to your physical health. Keep your mind, body, and soul focused on honoring and obeying Him)
  6. Proverb 4:4:20-24 -- My child, pay attention to what I say; listen closely to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to a person’s whole body. Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life. Put away perversity from your mouth; keep corrupt talk far from your lips. (What comes from the mouth is what is in the heart: “But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart, and they defile the man” Matthew 15:18. Keep your thoughts, words, and heart pure, so that your body stays well)
  7. Isaiah 58:8 – Then your light will appear like the dawn and your recovery will come quickly. Your righteousness will go before you and the Lord’s glory will be your rear guard. (He promises to protect you in all things…your health included!)
  8. Jeremiah 17:14 – Heal me, O LORD, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise. (Appeal to God through praise and worship)
  9. Jeremiah 30:17 – “Why do you cry out over your wound, your pain that has no cure? Because of your great guilt and many sins I have done these things to you. But all who devour you will be devoured; all your enemies will go into exile. Those who plunder you will be plundered; all who make spoil of you I will despoil. “For I will restore you to health and I will heal you of your wounds,” declares the LORD… (God is your Savior and as such He will rescue you from everything and everyone who hurts you. Quit sinning, believe His Word, and thank Him for His everlasting mercy, compassion, and grace)
  10. James 5:14-16 – Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. (PRAY, Pray, and then pray some more! Faithful prayers are full of faith.)
  11. 1 Peter 2:24 – He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By His wounds, you have been healed.
  12. III John 1:2 -- Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.

If we were to sum up the life of Jesus it would be that He came to teach and HEAL. Throughout the New Testament, stories of Jesus healing the infirmed prevail. At the end of His incarnate life, He “died” so that we may all live with Him and The Father for eternity. His stories of healing give us hope and understanding that He is always with us and will heal us if we ask, trust, and believe!

Health is as simple as being right with God and having faith He WILL heal you. Look deeply into your soul and see where your relationship with God needs mending. Do not allow sin to infect your body, mind, and soul. Confess, be forgiven, and forgive yourself, so that you will be completely well. Believe! Amen. ><>
